Kampala, Uganda In a swift operation, police at Jinja Road Police Station swooped on suspected thieves’ havens in Kampala’s Kiseka area, arresting six individuals for allegedly dealing in stolen property. The raid, conducted between 10am and 3pm on March 5, 2026, targeted shops suspected of fencing stolen goods.
A treasure trove of exhibits was recovered, including old vehicle grills, side mirrors, motor vehicle number plates, spotlights, headlamps, and baby side mirrors. The haul suggests a thriving black market for stolen vehicle parts in the area. Police say the suspects, all detained at Jinja Road Police Station, have been charged with receiving and retaining suspected stolen goods.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb theft in Kampala. “We won’t tolerate thieves and fences operating in our city,” said a police source. The public is urged to report suspicious activities. The suspects await prosecution.
The recovered items are expected to aid investigations into several vehicle theft cases. Police are working to reunite owners with their stolen property. The crackdown sends a strong message: crime doesn’t pay in Kampala.
